One of the activities not to be missed in the area is whale watching, especially southern right whales. These giants of the sea visit the waters of the peninsula from May to December, and during this time, they can be seen up close in an impressive spectacle.

Another activity to do in Peninsula Valdes is killer whale watching. These predators hunt on the beaches of the peninsula both seals and sea lions. This unique orca behavior can only be seen in a few places in the world, and Peninsula Valdes is one of them. It is worth mentioning that this is not an activity suitable for the impressionable.

Day 2 in Puerto Madryn in 4 days: Visit to the penguins at Punto Tombo
This second day is ideal for one of the most popular excursions in Puerto Madryn: to the Punta Tombo Natural Protected Area. The largest colony of Magellanic penguins in the world is found here.
To get to Punta Tombo you will have to go to the province of Chubut, about 100 km south of the city of Trelew. Every year, from September to March, thousands of penguins arrive on the Atlantic coast to breed and prepare their young for migration.
You will have the opportunity to walk among the penguin colonies, see how they build their nests, how they feed their young and how they communicate with each other. It is a unique experience that cannot be found in many other places in the world.

Upon returning to Puerto Madryn, close this second day by visiting the Ecocentro. This is an environmental interpretation center that seeks to educate about the importance of marine life conservation and environmental care.

It is home to a colony of fur seals, a species that has inhabited the region for thousands of years. In this place it is possible to see the animals in their natural habitat, resting on the rocks and swimming in the sea from a viewpoint on the cliff.

In the afternoon, and to close your trip through Puerto Madryn, visit the charming town of Gaiman. Very close to the city of Trelew, Gaiman has a rich Welsh cultural heritage, as well as beautiful landscapes and a delicious gastronomy that make it an unmissable place to visit.
Gaiman was founded in 1874 by Welsh settlers. The city is known for its Welsh cultural heritage and for its tea houses of local families, where you can enjoy the traditional Welsh tea ceremony with its classic pastries, which include scones and Welsh cake. Its community still preserves its Welsh traditions and was even visited by the Princess of Wales Lady Di.
