The Quila Quina beach, on the shores of Lake Lácar, is the main attraction of San Martín de los Andes during the summer season. The beach is stony and the water of the lake is very clear.
There are many trails for low-impact trekking that take you to waterfalls and even to the mouth of the Grande River in the lake.
It is a place to simply relax in nature, picnic and enjoy the natural surroundings.

How to get to Quila Quina from San Martín de los Andes?
To visit Quila Quina beach there are two options:
- By private car, head out of town on RN 40 in the direction of Villa La Angostura, that is, the beginning of the Seven Lakes Route. Once you take the detour, it is about 11 km of gravel road. The good thing about doing it by car, is to stop on the way to observe the views of the lake.
- By catamaran of the shipping company LacaryNonthue, it departs from the main pier of San Martín de los Andes and last about 30-minute to get to Quila Quina. Quila Quina has public restrooms, a little-priced restaurant for lunch, campsites to spend the night by the lakeside and a handicraft stall. For more comfort, there are nice cabins to stay in.
Admission fee to visit Quila Quina beach
To access Quila Quina, you have to pay for access to Lanin National Park. The price in 2026 is $ 20,000 for foreigners, $ 7,000 for Argentinean over 6, and $ 5.000 for provincial residents.
There are also promotional passes for 3 days (you pay the value of 2 days and save one day) and for 7 days (you pay the value of 3.5 days and save 3.5 days). Multi-day passes must be used within 6 months of purchase, consecutively or alternately and within the same protected area.
